We are a family operated ranch located about eight miles west of Bashaw, Alberta.  The Buelow family has been in this area over a hundred years, with this particular farm being operated since the 1940's.  Over time it has largely been a mixed farm but the focus has changed in the last 30 odd years to a Cow/Calf  & Backgrounding operation as well as raising Grulla & Dun Quarter Horses and working Fjord horses.  We occasionally raise and train Border Collie stock dogs as well.
Our yard is also the base for Cliff's Drilling Ltd., a water well drilling company that has been satisfying customers since 1973 with roots going back to the 1940's as well.  If you need any water well work done, contact us and we can put you on the right track to clean, dependable water.
With another generation of Buelows arriving at the present, it would appear that we will be here a long while yet!
About The Ranch
Our founder of both the Ranch and the water well drilling is Walter Buelow.  He is well known in the area for his highly entertaining singing and yodelling.  Walter turned 92 on March 25, 2010 and is still brightening faces with his jokes, stories and occasional song.  He is very much involved in the horse division of the ranch.
Mary Buelow turned 91 on October 10, 2009 and is having a wonderful time being great-grandma to a new herd of Buelows in the yard.  Walter & Mary celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary on November 21, 2009!

Louise & Cliff Buelow
Cliff and Louise have continued the farming and drilling legacy here on Spotted Valley Ranch.  Cliff has built the drilling business up from one cable tool rig to having two rigs now, one Mayhew 1000 rotary rig and an Ingersoll-Rand TH60 top drive rig.  Sadly we lost Louise in an accident on June 30, 2008 at the age of 54.  Her work, love and contributions to the Ranch and our families will be greatly missed.

Phill and Laurie are continuing the Water Well Drilling here on Spotted Valley Ranch.  Buying in as a partner, Phill has been drilling the majority of the wells  this last year.  They just became parents for the first time to Austin Buelow on October 22, 2009.  One    more addition to the Buelow tree!
Kelly and Christie are continuing the farming and ranching aspects here on  Spotted Valley Ranch.  Carrying on the horse business from Walter and running a Custom Leather Shop are all part of the larger picture as well.  Hayley, Melissa and Riley are all lined up with their own horses for the future and are already a big help in the daily Ranch life.
On December 27, 2009, Cliff married Becky Day from Medford, Oregon and she has moved up to Alberta to become a part of the Ranch.
